Sunyani MCE inaugurates projects

Daadom (B/A), March 11, GNA - Mr. Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, on Thursday called on the people to burry their political differences and contribute to the development of the area.

He said the execution of the projects was in fulfillment of NDC campaign promises and reminded parents that the best legacy they could bequeath to their children was education.

Mr Oppong-Ababio was inaugurating 6,000 Ghana cedis three-classroom block for Daadom Municipal Assembly Primary School, 3,500 Ghana cedis 10-seater water closet toilet for the people of Nwawasua and 7,000 Ghana cedis 12.8 kilometers roads at Penkwase in Sunyani, at Daadom, Nwawasua and Penkwase-Agyei Ano. He commended Nana Adu Asamoah, Odikro of Daadom and the elders for supporting the construction of the classroom block to replace a dilapidated one.

Mr Oppong-Ababio said the execution of the projects was in fulfillment of NDC campaign promises. He reminded parents that the best legacy they could bequeath to their children was education. Mr Oppong-Ababio cautioned parents to avoid engaging their children in commercial activities and instead send them to school. He advised children against alcoholism, sexual promiscuity and drug abuse and appealed to parents and teachers at Daadom to form a Parent-Teacher Association to promote education in the area. Mr. Oppong-Ababio promised to provide teachers' quarters to motivate teachers to accept posting to the area and an over-head Polytank to supply drinking water to the pupils and teachers. Mr. Oppong-Ababio was accompanied by the Reverend Father Timothy Kankam Dwumfour, Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service, Mr.Kofi Lampo, Municipal National Disaster Management Organization co-ordinator, and Mr. Edward Ansah, Municipal engineer of the Department of Feeder Roads.

Rev. Fr. Dwumfour asked the people of Daadom to regularly maintain the classroom block so that it could last longer. Nana Antwi Boasiako II, Kyidomhene of Sunyani Traditional Council was at the inauguration.
