Residents of the Brong Ahafo Regional capital of Sunyani have descended heavily on Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, Dr. Kwesi Amakye Boateng for describing internationally acclaimed investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest expose on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as, “garbage which needs to be trashed”.

Dr Amakye Boateng is reported to have told a Kumasi-based radio station Angel FM that, “Anas should not edit and comment on the video. He should allow viewers to make their own judgment. These are all elements of biases in his works. If he brings his work to the university, we shall set it ablaze, it is garbage. We shall tear it apart”.

He argued that since Anas depends on the investigative filming for a living, the element of biases are so much which he (Anas) cannot take out.

Adding that “This is why he has not been able to bring every single conversation he encounters during his investigations for the public to make their own judgment. That is why the video is edited”.

The lecturer also wondered why Anas keeps on persuading people who refuse to take bribe until they fall into his trap.

But after watching the premiering of the expose, named, “Number 12”, viewers chastised people who for one reason or the other have questioned and attacked Anas for what they called, “great job” that has exposed corruption in the game of football, a spot so loved by the nation.

“We heard in the news that one lecturer from KNUST, Dr. Amakye Boateng or something has described this expose as garbage. It’s sad. Look, it’s either he has not watched it, he is corrupt and ignorant or he is being used by elements such as Kennedy Agyapong”, Ernest Agyakum said with passion.

“Look, my brother, let me tell him if I were his student I will never attend his lectures. When Anas Aremeyaw Anas puts his life on the line to do this job and lectures call it garbage, it’s sad. The so-called lecturer must be monitored. He is rather full of garbage and must be investigated by the university immediately”. He added.

Another person who cursed those captured in the video, Kwame Essirifi, only prayed the victims will be made to face the full rigors of the law. “This is sad. I now understand why Kennedy Agyapong is all over the place making noise. We leave him in the hands of God” He said.

“As for that illiterate of a lecturer from the KNUST called Dr. Amakye Boateng, I don’t know how he became a lecturer. When thieves and corrupt people are in such sensitive positions to lecture students, what nation are we building?” Essirifi fumed.

He described Dr Amakye Boateng’s comments, as empty, not well thought through and childish borne out of either sheer envy any or naivety.

“He claims Anas edits his videos and all these kinds of ignorant comments. I want to ask him a simple question if he is a lecturer, “How is it possible to watch raw footages”? Does it make sense if he understands what he is talking about? So between him and Anas who must be taken seriously?” He queried.

“So you see when all these people parade themselves as lecturers, what is the fate of the future of this country? Mr. Essirifi said.

When asked about her opinion about watching the film, Mrs. Alberta Akosua Antwi, said it’s her prayer that none of the culprits is left off the hook.

“These are nation wreckers who must not be punished to serve as a deterrent to others. They must severely be sanctioned. They have succeeded in killing the game and it’s very sad” She observed.

Asked about what she thought regarding those who have condemned Anas in one way or the other, Mrs. Akosua Antwi, sad, “may God forgive their ignorance. One of two things, they are either as corrupt as those caught in the video or are only ignorant and shamelessly envious of the hard work done by Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team.

“As for Kennedy Agaypong, we know how loud he is, as Kwesi Nyantayi rightly said in the video. He is a noise maker who must be ignored by all well-meaning and right thinking Ghanaians” He said.

“My worry is that, I read in the news that one Dr. Amakye from KNUST has called this expose garbage. My God. Very sad. A lecturer. I want to tell him that he is rather full of garbage. He is empty-headed and more than those thieves in the video. I have queued in from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Sat here for 2 hours to watch the entire film. And tell you what, I have enjoyed every moment of watching it. I will watch it a thousand times, given the opportunity. And a lecturer who must know better says what? May God forgive him and all those who are attacking Anas for this great job. May Allah bless him and his team” She said.

“As for this lecturer, I think he is not alright, while his colleagues in the academia organized a two-hour grilling session with Anas where they got a deeper understanding of the profession, he is jumping from one radio station to another talking nonsense”. She said.

Meanwhile, the Eusbett International Conference 2000 capacity hall experienced one of the biggest events by way of attendance.

Organisers had planned just one screening but the number was so huge, the gates had to be closed at exactly 7:00pm for the show to start with a milling crowd waiting outside refusing to return home.

This compelled a second show which was not planned for. The hall was packed for the second show as well, as residents of Sunyani gave their blessing to the project.

The Sunyani Screening was supported by the Management of Eusbett Hotel and Sun City hotel and Sun City FM in partnership with all the media houses in the city.
