Former president John Dramani Mahama has slammed Multimedia Group Limited for getting involved in what he describes as ‘political propaganda,' in a move to tarnish his reputation.

The former President’s comment is in reaction to a news item by Joy FM's Evans Mensah on Monday, June 4, 2018 and subsequently carried on the company's online portal, myjoyonline.com alleging that he [John Mahama] had been 'fingered' in an ongoing probe into a case of bribery involving GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

According to the story, the former president together with some former government appointees may be investigated by the police CID over claims they benefitted from an $8 million donation by investor friends linked to Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The report further stated that “In a statement written by Mr Nyantakyi on May 23, excerpts of which have been gleaned by Joy News, the embattled FA president is reported as saying an amount of $8 million was given to Mr Mahama and the NDC ahead of 2016 elections”.

The former President who appears disgusted by the act perpetrated by the Multimedia Group in a tweet said the action by the media giant only “besmirches our common honour & sacrifices we’ve made as a people” after paying the ultimate price for the freedoms the nation is enjoying.

President Akufo-Addo called for the GFA president to be investigated after it was discovered he had extorted money from persons he thought were potential investors into the Ghanaian economy in the name of the President and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The revelation was made when the President viewed investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest documentary on football and politics, ‘Number 12’ which will be premiered Wednesday, 6th June 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The president who was not happy with the excerpts of the video shown to him, reported the incident to the police which led to the arrest of Mr Nyantakyi.

He has since been charged with defrauding by false pretence.
