The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, says businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome will be served with a notice of hearing at the Supreme Court by close of day Wednesday, March 18, tv3network.com has gathered.
The notice will also be served on Waterville Holdings (BVI) Limited.
High-placed sources say the AG has proposed Tuesday, March 31 for the Supreme Court to begin hearing the case. That date will, however, be confirmed by the Court as per its listings.
The AG is praying the Supreme Court to give direction as to how the judgement debt illegally paid Mr Woyome should be retrieved.
Mr Woyome was on Thursday, March 12 absolved of all criminal charges by an Accra High Court in the receipt of Ghc51.2 million judgement debt from the state.
But the AG has already appealed the judgement of Justice John Ajet-Nassam, describing it as “wrongful”.
President John Dramani Mahama is reported to have thrown his support behind the AG to "use all lawful means" to retrieve the money.
Though Mr Woyome has called for the resignation of Mrs Appiah-Oppong in pursuing a criminal charge against him as per previous relationship between them, the Attorney General is expected to lead prosecution at the Supreme Court as she claims her interest in the case is only for the state.
