Accra, Jan. 20, GNA - The Supreme Court at its last sitting adjourned the case involving Dr Robert Dodoo, Former Head of the Civil Service, sine die to allow Counsel for the Prosecution and Defence to file their papers.
This is contrary to an earlier report carried by the Ghana News Agency that the Supreme Court had ordered Dr Dodoo to go back to open his defence at a Fast Track High Court (FTC) in Accra trying him for wilfully causing financial loss of 70.8 million cedis to the State. This new fact came to light when Dr Dodoo drew the GNA's attention to the error and the Agency made further inquiries at the Supreme Court on Friday.
Counsel of the Former Head of the Civil Service from 1994 to 2001 had filed a submission of "no case" at the FTC but the Court on July 13 2004 asked the accused to open his defence since he had a case to answer.
Dr Dodoo then appealed against the FTC decision at the Court of Appeal. The Appeal Court upheld the High Court's ruling and ordered Dr Dodoo to return to the FTC to answer the charge preferred against him. He then proceeded to the Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal's ruling that he (Dodoo) had a case to answer at the lower court. The GNA unreservedly apologise to Dr Dodoo for the error, which was carried by the various media houses.
