Suspected armed robber flown to Accra

Sunyani, Feb. 25, GNA - A 23-year-old suspected armed robber, Haruna Baba, arrested by the Brong Ahafo regional police for allegedly attacking travellers on the Wench-Bamboi road with accomplices last Saturday and robbing them of their monies, jewellery and mobile phones was flown to Accra on Wednesday for further investigations.

Chief Inspector Christopher Tawiah, Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) told Ghana New Agency in Sunyani that, the IGP, Nana Owusu Nsiah directed the regional police to send the suspect to the police headquarters.

He said the police were working tirelessly to arrest the other suspects.

The suspect has claimed to police he hails from Bawku in the Upper East Region but has the features of a Fulani.

The police PRO confirmed that a group of masked armed robbers attacked passengers and motorists on the highways in the region at the weekend and robbed the victims including Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu, Legal Director of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London and two others, who were travelling on the Wenchi-Bamboi road of large sums of money and other properties.
