The Pokuase Police have arrested one Abdul Razak Ahmed in connection with a shooting incident on December 13, 2018 at Katapor, near Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Abdul Razak, who was arrested on January 18, 2019 at Fise in Amasaman, is suspected to be a member of a gang of land guards.

A search conducted at his house near the new campus of Accra Technical University at Samsam Mepehoasem led to the retrieval of a fully-loaded revolver and 40 9mm live ammunition.

A victim also identified Abdul Razak as part of six motor riders and other gun-wielding persons in a Toyota Tundra that launched the attack at the Gao Gao Filling Station.

According to reports, the victim, George Gbelly sustained gunshot wounds and fell unconscious during the melee which is said to have been caused by land dispute.

Another victim, known only as Nii Okai, also reported to the police that he sustained injury in the thigh.

When the police visited the crime scene, they discovered blood stains on the floor, a pair of slippers belonging George Gbelly and five empty pistol shells.

The Amasaman Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Frances Yiribaare, in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, disclosed that two other persons, who were believed to have been involved in the matter, had been arrested and granted bail.

The police, he said, seized the weapons at the suspect’s hideout, extracted bullets from victims and detained the suspect to help in investigations into the matter.

Chief Superintendent Yiribaare also called on the public, who might have fallen victim to the criminal activities of the suspect, to report to the police, adding that the suspect was also wanted by the Nsawam Police over a murder case.

“He bought the weapon but refused to disclose the buyer. The suspect again said it was given to him by a friend who he refused to name. He also says he is Asafoatse of Kuntunse,” the police commander added.
