An aide to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Manaf Ibrahim says he is remorseful for disrespecting the hierarchy of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region in a media exchanges.
Manaf, who wants to be the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate for Asawase in the 2020 Parliamentary election, was suspended indefinitely for insulting the party’s hierarchy.
He therefore not a member of the NPP of good standing and cannot contest in the party’s forthcoming parliamentary primary for orphan constituencies following the suspension.
Manaf sidestepped a decision by the party in the region to allow for some candidates to contest unopposed at the primary noting that the directive was in sharp contravention of the rules and regulations of the party’s constitution.
“He has been suspended indefinitely”, NPP’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, Sam Pyne said in a recent interview.
Manaf has now written to apologise for his unruly behaviour in an effort to get his indefinite suspension reversed.
“The happenings within that period I reckon were in my low moments. If in words, deeds, attitude, mannerism, taste or tone, I have caused anyone discomfort or created pain, that is not my truest self. Please, forgive me. Charge it to my head, not to my heart.
“I hope this apology meets your kindest consideration,” he wrote in his apology letter to the NPP in the Ashanti Region.
