Suspended CPP General Secretary sues party

Eric Asani Tano was accused of campaigning and voting for a non-party candidate Eric Asani Tano was accused of campaigning and voting for a non-party candidate

Suspended Acting General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Eric Asani Tano, has dragged the party to court over his dismissal.

Mr Tano is praying the court to quash the decision by the party to revoke his membership.

The party, acting upon the advice of the Central Committee in March, 2017 revoked the membership of Mr Tano after he was accused of campaigning and voting for a candidate other than the CPP’s presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.

But Mr Tano is challenging the decision to suspend in court after claiming that due process was not followed.

It would be recalled that Mr Tano, then Deputy Communications Director of the CPP was appointed as Acting General Secretary after Nii Armah Akomfrah the substantive General Secretary was suspended.
