Suspended School Feeding coordinator refuses to hand over

Ghana School Feeding Programme National Coordinator, Kwame Adu-Nsiah Ghana School Feeding Programme National Coordinator, Kwame Adu-Nsiah

The suspended coordinator of the National School Feeding Programme, Kwame Adu Nsiah is yet to hand over his official duties despite a directive by the Gender and Social Protection Minister following an investigation into alleged acts of corruption against him.

According to reports, Mr. Adu Nsiah insists he has been given the authority to carry on in his role as coordinator by the Chief of Staff of the Republic.

A group calling itself the 'Concerned Women of the New Patriotic Party' is calling on the Chief of Staff to come clear on the matter and possibly, distance herself from the said comments for the necessary action to be taken against the accused coordinator of the programme if found guilty of the said allegations.

In a statement signed by Chairman of the group, Akosua Nyarko, the group said "we have been reliable informed that Dr. Adu Nsiah has refused to hand over to the Deputy National Coordinator with the excuse that, the Chief of Staff has directed him to continue working as the National Coordinator".

While commending the Minister for Gender, Children and Social protection, Cynthia Morrison for cracking the whip on the National Coordinator for the Ghana School Feeding Programme, the group is further demanding an 'independent investigation to be carried' into allegations of misappropriation of funds for the programme.

PRESS STATEMENT BY CONCERNED WOMEN OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY ON THE SUSPENSION OF THE NATIONAL SCHOOL FEEDING COORDINATOR

It was with great joy and relief when the news of the suspension of the National Coordinator for the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Dr. Kwame Adu Nsiah broke. We are grateful to the Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection, Hon. Cynthia Morrison for cracking the whip by asking the National Coordinator to step aside for an independent investigation to be carried into the corruption and malpractices that has engulfed GSFP.

We the Concerned NPP Women by this statement declares our support for an independent investigation to be carried into;

1. The inflation of enrolment figures of some schools under the GSFP compared to the figures of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the 2017/2018 academic year.

2. Catering contracts for some schools which do not exist but have been awarded to fictitious caterers who have been paid a total of GHS141, 075 for the third term of 2017/2018 academic year; 3. Some names of caterers who were identified to be involved in the ongoing malfeasance with non-existing schools assigned to them.

All the above should be thoroughly investigated and all those involved be made to face the full rigors of the law.

However, we have been reliable informed that Dr. Adu Nsiah has refused to hand over to the Deputy National Coordinator with the excuse that, the Chief of Staff has directed him to continue working as the National Coordinator.

This, we believe is one of the many strategies of Dr. Adu Nsiah to continue his corrupt practices after using same strategy to defy a similar directive by the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Otiko Afisah Djaba.

We want to use this opportunity to call on the Hon. Chief of Staff to disassociate herself from this claim and ensure that all perpetrators in this scandal are punished accordingly.

We also call on caterers of GSFP across the country whom have been underpaid, overpaid and unpaid to speak up demand better management at the National School Feeding Secretariat. The Ghana School Feeding Programme deserves better management.

Enough is enough!!

Dr. Adu Nsiah Must Go!!!

Thank you.
