Kwame Jantuah, a leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has criticised Rev John Ntim Fordjour for turning a sensitive security matter into what he called a ‘media war.’

He lamented that the actions of the Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Interior, could cause fear and panic in the country.

Sharing his sentiments on GHOne TV on April 4, 2025, Jantuah questioned the motive behind Ntim Fordjour’s actions; suggesting that he was playing politics with a rather sensitive issue.

“He is causing fear and panic among citizens. If you get wind of a sensitive information that can jeopardise the country, do you run to the public to announce it?

“You’re a Member of Parliament and a committee member. If for nothing at all, the first port of call should have been your committee and the police,” he decried.

He added that Ntim Fordjour could have contacted the right authorities to ascertain the validity of his suspicions; adding that it would have made his efforts more plausible, instead of coming public with the information.

“You’ve identified that there could be some suspicious activities going on at the airport. You have to get in there to get the facts and then report to the appropriate authorities. If the authorities prove that the claims are true, they will come out to say that an MP led us to the conduct this probe. Wouldn’t that be more gratifying?” Jantuah asked.

Meanwhile, Rev Ntim Fordjour, in a post on his X account on April 3, 2025, sought to suggest that he tried to report the matter for a collaborative effort on the matter, but the NDC caucus in Parliament blocked him.

“When I wrote to call for Joint Security briefing which would have afforded the security and intelligence agencies the opportunity to collaborate with me and to share further information with them and receive their updates on investigations conducted into the specific cases, NDC Parliamentary Caucus and the government BLOCKED the briefing and shielded the security and intelligence agencies from accountability and denied them the opportunity to collaborate with me. What are they hiding?” the post by the MP for Assin South on April 3, stated.

Kwame Jantuah’s reaction follows the legislator’s call for an urgent briefing on the contents of two aircrafts — AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B — which he allegedly were conveying cocaine and cash into the country.

President John Dramani Mahama, after the claim, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
