Swedruhene calls for mass transfer of Swedru police

The Swedruhene, Nana Kobina Botwe II, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to transfer all police personnel in Agona Swedru for failing to perform their duties professionally.

He alleged that some of them were behind crimes committed in the Agona West Municipality.

Nana Botwe made the call at a durbar to climax the Annual Akwambo festival of the chiefs and people of Agona Swedru.

He accused the police of conniving with cyber fraudsters and other criminals, making it difficult for the police to arrest criminals in the area.

Nana Botwe also called for the immediate transfer of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Matthew Quayson and the Municipal Town Planning Officer, Mr. Francis Matiloley, alleging that they were corrupt and had failed to contribute to the development of the area.

The Ghana News Agency observed that the two municipal officers were present at the durbar, but did not react to the allegations.

Nana Botwe appealed to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to implement the decision to create Swedru/Agona Asafo Municipal Assembly, to facilitate development in the area.

Mr. Alexander Asum-Ahensah, Minister of Chieftaincy Affairs, appealed to chiefs and leadership of the development committees to ensure judicious use of resources for development projects.

He called on Ghanaians to assist state institutions and corporate bodies to ensure peaceful elections in December 7, to deepen the county’s democracy.

Present at the durbar included Minister of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Asum-Ahensah, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Stephen Ackah, Nana Oduro Kwarteng, Chief Director of Local government Ministry and Gyantuahene of Swedru and Agona Swedru District Police Commander, Nana Ekow Yawson .
