Swiss Angels Foundation, a philanthropic organization, has provided Mafi- Kumase Senior High Technical School (MAKSTEC) in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region a mechanized borehole facility.

This development would see the school have continuous access to potable water and bring an end to student roaming the Mafi Kumase township in search of water, as supply to the school has not been consistent.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the mechanized borehole, the Headmaster of MAKSTEC, Courage Meteku expressed gratitude to the NGO for easing pressure on their finances, as the school would no longer pay huge bills for the supply of water.

He added students would no longer “walk long distance to fetch water from a dam in town which exposed students to various forms of harm and vices.”

Mr. Meteku, however, appealed for the provision of enough furniture to facilitate academic works, adding “we also need to make available more bungalows to accommodate more teachers on campus.”

The Co-Founder and Country Director of Swiss Ángels Foundation, Francis Daffor, acknowledged the school’s cooperation during the execution of the project.

He is optimistic the GH? 30,000.00 facility would serve its purpose and assured of the Foundation’s continuous support to the school.

“My organization is aimed at making significant change in Ghana hence their commitment to touching lives by providing the less privileged basic social amenities”, he said.

“We shall do our best to help with the supply of some furniture to the students”, said Mr. Daffor who was flanked by the Co-Founder of Swiss Angels Foundation, Angelo Margassio.

The Chairman of the school’s Parents Teacher Association, Thompson Fiawornu, advised the student body to take proper care of the mechanized borehole, “so it lives it’s expected lifespan”.
