Sycophants in the NPP are our problem - Arthur Kennedy

A member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Athur Kennedy says the party is replete with sycophants whose business is to praise the flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo; something he noted has contributed to the party's internal wrangling.

“The reason for the division in the party is the people who are saying 'yes sir, yes sir', 'Nana oo Nana'. That is our problem. I am disappointed in everyone in the party," Dr Kennedy told host of Ghana Dadwen, Bright Asempa on Onua FM Wednesday.

According to him, the only person who can resolve the challenges facing the party to ensure unity is Nana Akufo-Addo, saying "I can tell you, the only person who can unite the party is the flag bearer”.

Dr Arthur who was the party's campaign manager in the 2008 elections wondered what the governance would be for the NPP should it win the 2016 elections without first putting its house in order.

Considering the current situation within the party, he said is skeptical about the chances of the NPP winning the 2016 elections, noting it will be difficult for the party to win November 7 general elections.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo missed a rare opportunity to unite the factions within the party, saying "I can remember that press conference addressed by Nana Addo, he should have walked into that press conference with both Chairman Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong the then General Secretary of the party.

For him, "that would have sent a clear and uniting signal to the teeming members of the NPP. But Nana Addo wasted that opportunity and went ahead to address that press briefing without them"

The NPP has in the last year been characterized by crisis arising out of factions, leading to the suspension of some of its executives aside pockets of violence at some constituencies across the country.

Currently, the embattled chairman of the party, Paul Afoko is in court challenging his supension.
