The Eastern Regional branch of the Teachers and Educational Workers' Union (TEWU), made up of the non-teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has warned its members against hiding behind the Union to spread false information about other personnel.
In a press release signed by the Regional Chairman of the Union, Mr Edmund Mate-Kodjo and issued in Koforidua on Friday, said some "disgruntled members of the Union are hiding behind the Union to spread scandalous and fabricated news about some top-ranking members to settle personal scores.
It made it clear that the TEWU was not a platform for workers of the GES to make "unsubstantiated allegations calculated to tarnish the hard-worn reputation of officers".
The release said: "The Union will never condone and connive with such people to use the influence of the Union for their own selfish or personal interest".
