The Teachers and Educational Workers' Union (TEWU), of Trades Union Congress (TUC), on Friday called off their intended industrial action code named "Triple Three" scheduled for Monday March 3, 2003.
A statement in Accra, signed by Dan Ayim Antwi, General Secretary of the Union, said the suspension was: In view of the progress made at the negotiation table, headquarters Secretariat of the Union has decided that the industrial action by the non-teaching staff, code named "Triple three scheduled for next Monday should be suspended"
The statement said the Standing Joint Negotiation Committee of the Ghana Education Service and the Teachers and Educational Workers' Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) met in Accra on Thursday to begin negotiations on the long standing grievances of the non-teaching staff of the Ghana education Service.
It said after deliberations on all issues involved, the meeting was adjourned to March 20, 2003.
It thanked the rank and file of the Union for the patience and maturity they had exhibited.
