TEWU takes a stand

Accra, May 14, GNA- The National Executive Council, the highest decision body of the Teachers and Educational Workers' Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has resolved to take steps and ensure that their long outstanding grievances are well addressed.

A resolution released in Accra on Thursday by the NEC said "If by the close of work on Monday, May 24, 2004 the grievances pending before management are not resolved, the Union will advise itself".

The resolution, jointly signed by Mr Daniel Ayim Antwi, General Secretary and Madam Margaret Martey, Second National Vice-Chairperson of the Union said, the NEC took into consideration, the untold hardship that members of the union were passing through because of the delay in resolving the grievances.

Some of the grievances include the review of Conditions of Service for the Non-Teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the payment of outstanding salary distortions and disparities, and the responsibility allowance.
