TMA to construct underground sewer lines for Bankuman

Mr.Joseph Korto, Presiding Member, Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), says plans are far advanced for the construction of underground sewer lines for Tema Newtown Bankuman later this year.

The Presiding Member revealed this to the Ghana News Agency during a Social Auditing programme organised by the Tema Metro directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

Mr Korto explained that, most residents in the Bankuman electoral area, did not have an engineered drainage system to carry wastewater from their homes hence they indiscriminate discharge of such wastewater on the roads, making them unmotorable.

He added that the project would also help prevent the high prevalence of Open Defecation within the Bankuman electoral area.

Mr. Isaac Kwame Antwi, Tema Metro director, Nation Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), noted that, the Commission was embarking on a series Social Auditing programmes within the Tema Metropolis to interact with the residents and know their prioritized needs

According to him, the programme would also offer the residents the opportunity to participate in the development of their communities

Mr.Ferguson Kubi, a Unit Committee member in the Bankuman Electoral Area, thanked the NCCE for the programme.

He said the programme had offered them the opportunity to point out the challenges and made the needed suggestions to the Authorities to ensure swift development of the area.

Sailors, artisans, traders and the clergy were among the various participants.
