A sports broadcaster with Citi FM/TV, Fentuo Tahiru, has advised students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism present at the first edition of the L.E.A.D summit held last Friday to take advantage of internship opportunities available to them even when school isn't on break.

He said internship prepares students for the job market adding that some companies end up employing students who attach seriousness to their work while interning at the company.

"Take up internship opportunities that come your way. Don't wait for school to be on break before you start looking for one. Some companies employ interns when they realise they are serious. They are some students in GIJ working and schooling at the same time. Job opportunities like writing news stories for websites. You don't have to be at the office to do it. All you need it your laptop."

The former Ultimate FM sports broadcaster added that these opportunities will also empower the students financially so they shouldn't wait after school before they start looking for their dream jobs because it may be too late.

Other speakers who were present at the first edition of the L.E.A.D summit were Desmond Lamptey (Broadcaster at Class fm and lecturer at GIJ), Kabu Nartey (a writer and a Kufour scholar) and Edem Nyonator (GIJ student and Founder of Gari Vibes).
