The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party, Richard Ahiagbah, has advised the leadership of the National Democratic Congress to go to court to address issues related to the voters register.

According to him, the court is the best avenue for the party to pursue in order to compel the Electoral Commission to address their demand for a forensic audit of the voters register.

Touting the effectiveness of the court, Richard Ahiagbah noted that the ruling New Patriotic Party resorted to legal action in 2016 when the party was in opposition and had concerns about the voters register, seeking an audit to be conducted.

He further added that the NPP’s decision to take the legal route led to significant electoral reforms.

In a post on his official account on X (formerly Twitter), Richard Ahiagbah posted “Why is the NDC not going to court to seek redress or to compel the Electoral Commission to take up their demand if it is to improve the integrity of our electoral system? This is the avenue that the NPP used to advance the many reforms part of our electoral laws, rules, and regulations today. I fancy the court option because it works...”

The National Democratic Congress is demanding for a forensic audit of the voters register after citing some discrepancies and anomalies in it.

The party embarked on the Enough is Enough nationwide demonstration on Tuesday, September 17, to press home their demands for the conduct of the voter register.
