The Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr. David Zaawumya Akolbila has been taking back to his office by combine Police and Military after he was chase out of his office yesterday by the Kandahar Boys.

The Kandahar Boys, a vigilante group affiliated with the NPP yesterday at 11am besieged the CEO’s office, violently 'booted' him out and closed his office.

The NPP youth accused Dr. David Akolbila of incompetence, mismanagement and awarding contracts to his private companies.

This morning, both the Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Saeed and the Tamale Mayor, Mr. Iddrisu Musah led Dr. David Akolbila back to his office.

The Minister and Tamale Mayor were supported by the Regional security and Service commanders from the Military, Police, Fire Service, Immigration, BNI and some members of the Regional Security Council and Metropolitan Security Council.

Also present was the NPP’s Council of Elders Chairman, Alhaji Mima and the Regional Youth Organizer of NPP, Mr. Alhassan Gaana.

The Northern Regional Minister strongly condemned the actions of the Kandahar boy, reiterated that, the issue will be investigated and whoever is found culpable will be dealt with the rule of law.

He said, the actions took by the NPP youth was neither sanctioned by the government nor the NPP, adding that, the Security Council will find a lasting solution to the recurrence attacks on the hospital.

The Minister said, the leadership of the party will sit with all the youth groups of the party to listen to their grievances for a redress to ensure that the actions took by the NPP youth never occur again.

Hon Saeed thanked the staff of the hospital for keeping their composure and not abandoned post when the incident occurs, “I want to thank the Doctors, the nurses and workers of the hospital for maintaining your composure yesterday even though the incident happen… you stayed back and attended to patients and you are still attending to patients …May God richly bless you …Government appreciates your commitment to humanity and citizens of this country”.

He hinted that, the matter is now beyond the hospital, “we have taken the matter up and the necessary investigations will take place and the recommendations that will come out we will make sure it is implemented to the latter”.

The Mayor of Tamale, Hon Iddrisu Musah Superior said, the issue is been comprehensively investigated by the police and urged workers of the TTH to avail themselves if invited by the police to help in the investigations.

Hon Musah Superior said, the CEO of the hospital needs the support and cooperation of the workers but however quick to add that, “but does not mean if you have a grievance you cannot air your grievances but do it correctly and rightly”.

The embattled CEO of the Hospital, thanked the RESEC and METSEC for the swift intervention and made a passionate appeal to the security command to erect a police point to prevent future attack at the hospital.
