Tamale Three-Star Hotel Project Abandoned

Tamale — Even though it initially promised to be one of the magnificent edifices in the Tamale Metropolis, this abandoned structure, which was meant to be a three star hotel, has now become what the public describe as a "death trap."

The structure, which is a property of the former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, was abandoned several years ago, but was to be renovated for commercial use during the CAN 2008 tournament.

The building has now become what can be termed as insignificant, after the contractors who were working on it allegedly advised that it should be pulled down for a new structure to be built, since the base was reportedly getting weak.

As a result, the supposed three star hotel, which is situated in the Central Business District of Tamale, has completely been abandoned since 2007, and is now posing threat to lives.

Some residents and traders around the area have since been agitating for the removal of the structure, but the officials of the Tamale Metro Assembly, and the former Vice President, are yet to take any action on the fate of the huge building.
