Tamale mayor holds historic meeting with former MCEs

The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Iddrisu Musah Superior on Friday April 6, 2018 held a meeting with past Chief Executives of the metropolis in a bid to tap from their experiences to, among other things, help him implement his “Tamale Project”.

First of its kind in the metropolis, the meeting brought together nine past MCEs whose tenure ranged between 1969 and 2012.

A statement issued and signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the assembly, Issah Salifu Musah explained that the former MCEs took turns to share their experiences with Mr Musah Superior.

The meeting also discussed how the former Chief Executives can use their experiences to help propel development in the metropolis.

“The summit which was at the instance of the Hon. Metropolitan Chief Executive, Iddrisu Musah also sought to use the meeting as an opportunity to interact with his senior predecessors, solidarize and possibly adopt some of their experiences whether negative or positive as he seeks to ensure the effective implementation of the “Tamale Project” which connotes an ambitious desire to implement projects and activities geared towards improving upon the living conditions of the people in Tamale,” the statement added.

The summit discussed the falling standards of education at the basic level and the upsurge in crime and indiscipline among the youth.

In attendance were: Alhaji Abdulai Yahaya (1969-1972), Alhaji W.W Zakari (1985-1987), Alhaji Iddrisu Ishmael Adam (1987-1990), Ambassador Abdulai Salifu (1990-1993), Alhaji A.Y.M.B Ibrahimah (1993-1999) and Mohammed A. Adams (1999-2000).

The rest are: Prince Imoro Andani (2002-2002), Iddrisu Adam (2002-2005), Dr Mohammed Amin Adam (2007-2009) and Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday (2009-2012).

Alahji Abdul-Rahman Hanan Gundadow, MCE from 2012 to 2016 could not attend the meeting.

The group also agreed to meeting periodically and to also serve as a standing advisory body to the current MCE.
