Tarkwa MP fetes security agencies on Boxing Day

The Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem in the Western Region, George Mireku-Duker has organised an end of year party for security agencies in his Constituency on Boxing Day.

About 250 security men congregated at the Goldfields Junior Staff Club House in Tarkwa for merrymaking.

The security agencies present included the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, National Security, Ghana National Fire Service, Customs Division, Ghana Prison Service, among others.

The highly elated and enthusiastic crowd were treated to food and drinks amidst music from the Masters Band to foster unity and peaceful co-existence.

Speaking at the event, Mireku-Duker, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, said Christmas was a period to foster unity and oneness.

He added that the purpose of the end of the year party was to recognize the hard work of the security men and show appreciation to them.

"In fact, our security men have done well throughout the year and they deserve to be recognized, apart from God, security agencies in this country have been protecting us," he acknowledged.

He added, "I pray to God that He should keep on give you strength to keep on protecting lives and properties in this country throughout the coming year".

He seized the opportunity to commend the security agencies for curbing crimes in the Municipality and Ghana as a whole and asked them to continue with their excellent work.

He promised to organize this every year for the security agencies noting that "this is the first of its kind and it is not going to be a nine-day wonder".

He stressed the need for people in the area to live in peace and harmony to pave way for development.

He assured them of his personal commitment to improving their lives by equipping them with the needed knowledge and skills.

The MP stated that he would continue to champion the cause of the security concerns and promised to work closely with them to ensure the civilians are protected.

He said the NPP government will continue to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the security agencies in the country.

The Gyasehene of Apinto Divisional Traditional Council who chaired the end-of-year party, Nana (Dr) Adarkwa Bediako hailed Mr Duker for such an initiative, which he described as a novelty.

He revealed that the MP is a generous person and asked God to bless him abundantly.

Nana Adarkwa said he will continue to support the MP to develop the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency.

He, therefore, seized the opportunity to appeal to the good people of the area to rally behind the MP.

He also called on the security agencies to work hard to ensure continuous protection of lives and properties.

Most of the security men expressed their gratitude to the MP for such a humanitarian gesture and prayed for him.

They also pledged their total commitment to protect lives and properties in the area and Ghana as a whole.
