Mrs. Christina Kobinah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa Nsueam has pledged to promote revenue collection in the area in order to generate enough funds to support developmental projects.
She said the Assembly together with unit committees and assembly members were doing all they could to meet its internally generated revenue target but it seem not to yield any positive result.
Mrs. Kobinah said this on Wednesday when she delivered her address at the Assembly’s two-day second ordinary meeting.
The MCE said though the Assembly had increased its infrastructural projects in which most of them had reached completion stages, it had not excelled in its revenue collection.
Mrs. Kobinah said the Assembly projected to collect an amount of GH?6,924,384.78 for this year’s internal generated funds, but as at the end of June, amount realized was GH?2,635,128.93.
She therefore called on Assembly members to redouble their efforts in the area of the internally generated funds to enable them to meet their expectations before the year ends.
The MCE said the Assembly would continue to sponsor mock examinations for pupils preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination as well as assist the Municipal Education Directorate to monitor basic schools closely.
Mrs. Kobbinah encouraged the people of Tarkwa Nsueam to support the Police to form neighbourhood watch-committees to augment the work of security agencies in the Municipality.
She called for proper drainage system for the Tarkwa-Ahwietieso section of the highway to prevent flooding in the area.**
