Teachers in Krachi set to declare strike over murder of colleague

Teachers in the Krachi Nchumuru district in the Volta Region are set to declare indefinite strike over the gruesome murder of their colleague, Marshal Mensah Manasseh.

Marshal Manasseh went missing early this month and his lifeless decomposed body was found days after search, floating on a river close to the Hunokope community, where the deceased resides.

George Achiba, the Regional Vice Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) told Joy News that they suspect foul play because, the life of the deceased was threatened, hence he fled from the Hunokope community to Konkomba.

Mr. Achiba added that while Manasseh was in Konkomba to spend the night, two gentlemen from Hunokope came to Manasseh to take him back with them. They denied the threats on Manasseh’s life. It was late at night so Manasseh wanted to spend the night in Konkomba.

The men suggested that if the deceased spent the night there, the alleged rumor about the threats will seem true. Manasseh returned to Hunokope with the gentlemen but was reported missing the next morning.

After days of search, a smock allegedly belonging to the deceased was found in a canoe which is supposed to be from Hunokope. Later, the decomposed body was found floating on a river close to Hunokope.

According to George Achiba, the strike is a way of condemning the murder and pushing for justice to be done.
