Accra, Jan. 30, GNA - Private institutions have been called upon to make in-service training a regular event for their teachers to upgrade their teaching skills.
Mrs Victoria Hanson, Proprietress of VICHANS School, a private institution at Abelemkpe, Accra at the weekend said the current global information technology revolution demanded dynamic skills and expert knowledge and it was through such training that teachers could satisfactorily handle students.
Mrs Hanson was speaking during the dedication of the school's building, which houses pupils from basic one to six and junior secondary school (JSS) one to three, library and computer facilities.
She said it was the policy of the school to sponsor its teachers for further training, so as to ensure quality teaching and learning and called on parents to support the efforts of the school, by paying the fees of their children regularly and by supplying their children with textbooks and uniforms.
The Reverend David Kpobi, Chairman of the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, who dedicated the building called for closer collaboration between parents and staff. He urged the teachers to be committed to their task to help to bring out the best in the children.
