Techiman Nyep Presents Sewing Machines To

GRADUATING BENEFICIARIES OF DRESSMAKING MODULE

The Techiman Municipal National Youth and Employment Programme on Tuesday presented Thirty-two sewing machines to beneficiaries of the Dressmaking Training Module of the programme.

Speaking at the short presentation ceremony, which was also the graduation ceremony of the beneficiaries, the Municipal Coordinator of the NYEP, Barimah Okrah stated that 1064 people had benefited from the programme since 2009, adding that eleven (11) new modules have been added to the programme since the Government took over power.

“These new modules include Hairdressing, Dressmaking, Road Maintenance, Mosquito Spraying Module, ICT, Fire Assistants, Community Police Assistants, Prisons Assistants, Auto-mechanics, LESDEP and YESDEP (Skill Training) Modules” he said.

According to Mr. Barimah, no one or groups of people have been sacked as is unfortunately being peddled but rather people have quitted the programme based on falsehoods being propagated by detractors of the government.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh who also took his turn to address the gathering indicated government’s commitment to support the youth of Ghana in obtaining employable skills which would in turn earn them a meaningful livelihood.

“Government represents the people and is therefore deeply concerned about their welfare”, he emphasized.

He urged the youth to patronize the programme and not try to smear the programme with political colours. the programme which took place at the forecourt of the Techimanhene’s palace also attracted chiefs, representatives of Asongtaba Cottage Industries, the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Youth and Employment Programme, Assemblymen among others.
