Techiman South MP releases money for Baamiri market

Baamiri (B/A), Aug. 2, GNA- Mr Addai Simons, Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman South, has released six million cedis out of his MP common fund towards the building of a market at Baamiri.

Mr John Kwasi Kwao, Assembly Member of the assembly, announced this at a meeting with the people at Baamiri at the weekend to discuss the implementation of development programmes in the area.

He commended the MP for the gesture and said a fund raising harvest would be organized to generate more funds for the extension of electricity to newly developed areas in the community.

Mr Kwao said resident citizens will contribute 40,000 cedis a man and 20,000 cedis a woman, while non-residents will contribute 100,000 cedis each and urged those abroad to support the development projects at home.

Nana Obiri Yeboah Kokroko, Tuntuhene of Techiman Traditional Area and Chief of Baamiri, advised the people to guard against partisan politics and unite for the development of the town.

He appealed to the assembly to provide the people with toilets to improve sanitation in the town.

Mr Kofi Adam, an opinion leader of the area, urged parents to enroll their children in schools in Baamiri instead of sending them to educational institutions at Techiman.

The community selected a five-member committee to ensure the implementation of development projects envisaged to be undertaken in the area.

The members were Mr Abraham Kwame Owusu, Mr Henry Takyia, and Mr Francis Takyi, Miss Rose Addae and Miss Elizabeth Acheampong.
