Techiman bags 69 million cedis towards NHIS

Techiman (B/A), Jan. 10, GNA - The Techiman Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (MMHIS), has so far bagged about 69 million cedis between December 13 and December 31 last year.

Mr. David Afful, the Scheme Manager announced this at a meeting of a general assembly to elect chairman and vice chairman of the Board of Directors for the Scheme on Monday.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors went to Nana Oseadeayie Asa Ackompanin, Krobohene and Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area with the Vice Chairman going to Mr. Kwabena Darko, Techiman Municipal Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). Mr. Afful said within the period the scheme recorded about 1010 paid-up members and the amount accrued had been deposited in an accounts at the Ghana Commercial Bank.

He said 84 trained field officers were currently on the ground for the collection of registration fees and contributions.

Addressing the 51 members constituting the MMHIS, Mr. Isaac Osei-Antwi, the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, urged them to intensify the education on the importance of the Health Insurance Scheme to ensure that more people in the Municipality were registered. Mr. Osei-Antwi cautioned members of the general assembly to attend meeting regularly in order that the scheme could be operational and effective in the Municipality.
