Techiman celebrates Yam festival

Techiman (B/A), Sept. 3, GNA - Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, has appealed to Government to support the people complete their self-initiated police barracks project in Techiman.

He explained the construction of the barracks would help solve the accommodation problem that faced police personnel in the municipality.

Oseadeeyo Ameyaw made the call when he addressed the chiefs and people of Techiman at a durbar to climax the Annual Fofie Yam festival in Techiman.

He called on Government to extend the STX Housing Project to Techiman and gave the assurance that the Traditional Council was ready to release land to support the project.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi noted that Techiman had been in existence since 1200 AD without conflict and asked the people to continue to live in unity and support Government for the development of the area.

He called on parents to ensure that their children, especially the girls pursue higher education, observing that lack of female graduates in the area continued to impede gender development.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi commenced Government, institutions and traditional authorities who supported the burial and funeral rites of his immediate predecessor, the late Osabarima Dotobibi Takyi Ameyaw II.
