Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said African countries can make tremendous economic progress by leapfrogging technological innovations.
According to Dr Bawumia, since technology is the bulwark of industrialisation, the continent must invest in it to make economic progress.
Dr Bawumia said this on Friday, 12 April 2019, in his address at the 2019 Columbia University's 16th African Economic Forum in New York, United States of America, on the theme: “Technology vs Industrialisation: The Way Forward.”
He added that the supportive role of governments is necessary for the development of technological capabilities in Africa’s quest for industrial pathways.
Dr Bawumia reiterated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administration agenda to leverage on technological innovations in shaping Ghana’s industrial path to spell the future of the country’s economic progress.
