The Tema Berthing Meeting Association has held its 30th anniversary with a commitment to ensure that vessel turnaround time in the port is improved tremendously.

The Tema berthing meeting association was formed in 1986 as a result of the need for fairness, equity, transparency in the allocation of berthing for vessels in the Port of Tema.

The Tema Berthing Meetings Association’s main activities at the Port is to plan the vessels coming into the port and sail them out of the port after the cargoes are discharged.

The President of the association Kweku Baah said the berthing serves as a platform for the regional maritime university where final students from the university visit to gain practical experience in the shipping industry.

“All that we are saying is that every stakeholder in Tema Port should join Tema berthing meeting association because that is the only place you will get all the necessary information that one requires to plan his activities at the port, talking about the transporters, talking about the stakeholders, talking about the customs, talking about the Port Heads, they should come and register with us so that together we can push the Tema port berthing meeting association forward,” he said.

He said the association will continue to prove information to the shipping public in order for them to plan their activities around the maritime industry very well.

“We also ensure the quick turnaround time of vessels that call into Tema port which is the ultimate goal for ship owners and ship operators and everybody who has a business to do at the Tema,” he said.

Certificates were presented to hardworking members for their immense contribution for the past 30 years.
