The 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections are more than three months away; however, some heavyweights of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, are already celebrating the victory of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Recently, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, and the Chairman of the Tema East NPP, Nene Ofoe Teye-Chu Agbadiagba IV, spoke about the Bawumia government hitting the ground running.

“The digitalization agenda is already being rolled out; what will happen is that His Excellency, the new President in waiting, will just scale it up,” said the Tema MCE in an interview with journalists.

Speaking as if the victory has already been won, he also said the Bawumia government will straight away put into action the promise to establish a credit system for all Ghanaians to own smartphones.

“The Bawumia government will fulfil this promise quickly to silence the naysayers,” Yohane Amarh Ashitey added.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia has already won the elections with a margin of more than 200,000 votes and the victory is for the people of Ghana because citizens want to see the country progress, not retrogress.

“Congratulations to all Ghanaians because they are electing probably the most progressive government in the history of the Fourth Republic,” the MCE, who is also the parliamentary candidate for the NPP in Tema East, said.

Similarly, the Constituency Chairman of the NPP in Tema East, Nene Ofoe Teye-Chu Agbadiagba, called on NPP members and Ghanaians in general to celebrate even as they prepare to vote in December.

“We are winning by one touch and there is nothing that the NDC can do about it because the Ghanaian people have spoken,” Nene said.

It is not clear if these NPP bigwigs were exercising clairvoyance, but like the MCE, the Constituency Chairman also predicted that Dr. Bawumia would win by a margin of over 200,000 votes.

“In 2020 we won by 500,000, this time round it will be about 200,000. I know what I am talking about,” he said.

Meanwhile, the celebratory spirit is sweeping through the rest of the NPP in the Tema East constituency.

“During the campaign prior to the presidential primary of the NPP recently, myself, Hon. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, and the hardworking Tema MCE, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, predicted that Vice President Bawumia’s victory would be sweeter than sugar, and it came true," Nene Ofoe Teye-chu Agbadiagba IV, who is also a manager at the GPHA, said.
