President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described Phase 2 of the Tema Motorway project as a game-changer aimed at eliminating the traffic congestion and gridlock frequently encountered by motorists along the stretch.
Addressing Ghanaians at the commissioning ceremony in Accra on December 2, 2024, Akufo-Addo stated that the project, which marks a defining moment for the country’s road infrastructure, will primarily enhance the flow of traffic to and from the Tema Harbor, the country’s largest seaport.
He also pointed out how the road project will stimulate economic activities across the ECOWAS regions.
“The completion of Phase 2 of the Tema Motorway interchange is a defining moment in Ghana’s infrastructure narrative. This project is here to enhance traffic flow to and from our nation’s largest seaport, the Tema Harbor, by reducing delays and eliminating gridlock. It will expedite the movement of goods, enhance trade facilitation, and stimulate economic activities across the ECOWAS regions,” he said.
President Akufo-Addo explained that the Tema Motorway Phase 2 is a key part of his government’s vision to connect the country with other nations on the continent, making Ghana more inclusive and globally competitive on the continent.
He further touted his administration’s achievement in the road sector and how it has significantly impacted the lives of Ghanaians.
“Under my leadership, we have prioritised road development as a cornerstone of our government’s agenda, recognising its profound impact on every aspect of Ghanaian life. The Tema Motorway interchange Phase 2 is part of a broader vision to create a Ghana that is connected, inclusive, and globally competitive,” Akufo-Addo added.
