Tema Police to intensify war against criminals

Tema, Jan 07, GNA - The Tema Regional Police Command has declared its intention to wage a relentless war against criminals in the municipality.

It has therefore stepped up its visit to schools, associations, opinion leaders and traditional areas to seek their assistance to help clamp down on the activities of criminals. The Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, (ACP) Daniel Laryea Odai who said this on Friday, warned all criminals to leave the region or be prepared to face the rigours of the law. He was speaking at the annual WASSA and award ceremony of the command in Tema.

Mr Odair commended the Regional Combat Unit and the Night Duty Senior Police Officers through whose efforts crimes such as armed robbery and car snatching has been brought down. He appealed to the general public to co-operate with the police by feeding it with information on the hideout of criminals. Mr David Quaye Annang, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the provision of adequate security for its citizen had been the concern of the government.

It has therefore been doing its best to provide the necessary logistics for the security agencies.

He said the police had contributed immensely to the attainment of a peaceful environment in the previous year and assured them of the assembly's commitment to collaborate with other organizations to support them with resources.

Certificates and prizes were presented to 15 officers for their hard work and dedication to duty. Inspector Christopher Mordzo of the Buffalo Unit who received the over all best award took home a double door refrigerator.
