Tema SOS raises fund to build hall

The SOS Hermann Gmeiner School in Tema has embarked on a fund raising walk in aid of a 536,000 Ghana cedi multi-purpose hall.

The ultra-modern hall would have a seating capacity of 600 and would primarily serve as a dining hall for the school.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Madam Edris Sarah Aseidu, Fund Raising Officer, SOS Children’s Villages, Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency that the project is significant because it was conceived locally and is being funded locally.

According to her, almost all projects and activities associated with the school are funded by foreign donors.

She said the hall when completed would provide a healthy and spacious area as well as make for productive use of the school’s instructional time.

Madam Aseidu said construction began with the 200,000 Ghana cedis realised so far and expressed the hope that corporate bodies as well as individuals would donate towards it.

In a speech read on his behalf, Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, called on industries and businesses in and around Tema to help the SOS pupils fulfil their dreams.

The SOS Hermann Gmeiner School is primarily an orphanage which offers both high quality education and family care.
