Tema “one man robber” arrested

A 35-year-old notorious armed robber, popularly called 'one man robber, ' is in the grips of the Tema Police Regional Command, for executing a series of robbery in the Tema Metropolis.

One man robber whose real name is Simon Osei, has been on the police wanted list for almost a year now, and is notorious for striking terror on his victims during and after attacks.

He is known for targeting and isolating victims, trailing them mostly at night for some time, and eventually attacking them, using all sorts of implements.

A press release from the Command indicated that Osei reportedly raped some of his female victims after robbing them.

He was arrested on Friday, April 10, at Tema Community Eight, when he attacked and robbed Mr Kingsley Ankukumah of his four mobile phones, one land line telephone, and a cash of GH¢1,800, while wielding a car wheel spanner.

The victim had driven a female friend to her house and decided to wait for her to enter the house before moving his vehicle.

While the victim was in his vehicle waiting, Osei suddenly appeared welding the implement and ordered the victim to surrender everything on him.

After collecting the items, he bolted, but luck eluded him as the victim raised the alarm leading to his arrest.

According to the Command, people who had fallen victim to the activities of Osei thronged the Tema Regional Police Command to catch a glimpse of him and identify him.

A search conducted in his room at Ashaiman Jericho, revealed a large number of items suspected to have been stolen from his victims, some have been identified by the victims.

The items included 19 wristwatches, 18 assorted bags, eight necklaces, four bracelets, four bunches of keys, one Sony camera, six pen drives, three memory cards and four rings.

Other items were, one hammer, two wallets, three car tapes, one strong decoder, one deck, one Yamaha DVD player, one LG flat screen TV set and a cash of GH¢71.

The Regional Command commended members of the public for helping to apprehend Osei, and assured residents of police commitment in collaborating with them to ensure their safety.
