Tension is reportedly mounting at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation-GBC- with workers up in arms against management over unpaid salaries from last month.
The corporation?s directors of finance and administration had to restrain demonstrating workers who staged protests on the state broadcasters? premises for over an hour yesterday.
Sources inside GBC told Joy News that the protests were prompted by salary delays, which have characterized the Eva Lokko-led management since it took over administration.
The workers say an old system of payment, which was replaced on the orders of the Director-General, is the source of the problem.
They also claim the situation has been worsened by a unilateral decision taken by management to contract Prudential Bank to handle the payment of cheques of salaries for workers at a commission.
This they say is contrary to government?s directive to source their subvention accounts directly from the bank of Ghana.
The workers are threatening to use all available means to ensure that their salaries are paid.
