Tension In Kpandae

AS SITTING MP AND DCE REFUSE TO RELEASE NOMINATION FORMS AND TRIES TO CHANGE DELEGATES LIST

NDC opened nominations last Thursday for constituencies where it has sitting MPs. At the press conference, Aseidu Nketia, the general secretary of the party made it clear that everyone interested in getting a nomination form will be given one. Here in Kpandai we are yet to see Aseidu Nketia’s promise materialise.

We were told over the weekend that the secretary, DCE and organiser were going to Tamale on Monday to collect the forms. They duly left and returned on Monday. Yet as at last night everyone one who has asked for a form has been told to wait. This is creating a lot of tension in Kpandae and surrounding areas and information from reliable sources is that the DCE and MP are changing the delegates list and they will only release forms after the new list has been compiled.

People have seen the MPs agents going from village to village seeking to appoint new party executives in the various branches when there are already elected executives and known delegates. Leading members of the party who have questioned this have not been given a satisfactory explanation. And the delay in releasing the nomination forms only adds to tension in town. Walk through this town and the tension in this peaceful town is palpable. This has been made worse because on Saturday the MP called a meeting of ward secretaries and chairmen to announce to them that he was going to stand again after 5 terms in office. When party activists heard this they stormed the meeting grounds and as a result the MP decided to send the DCE to address the meeting. When the foot soldiers asked what the plans were for giving out nomination forms they were they promised will available from Monday once collected from Tamale. Now they forms have come from Tamale and they are refusing to give them out.

We want to call on Asiedu Nketia, Boateng-Gyan, national and regional executives if they don’t intervene and let all those interested to buy nomination forms then we will advise ourselves.

WE NO GO SIT DOWN MAKE DEM CHEAT US EVERYDAY

After buying his way to parliament over the years by getting the executive to make him unopposed, we the people of Kpandae are not going to sit down for this to happen again this year, WALAI

We know there are several candidates in town because we have met them. They have been meeting delegates from village to village. They have assured delegates they will contest and we are confident they will stand- We want the best. We know there is Njachala who is already in town, Elijah, Nsalah, John Nlu and Borgar. Most of them have been in town since nominations opened. Even those who are not in town like Borgar have their campaign teams working for them. So if the MP does not release the forms there will be fireworks. We want choice through a democratic process.

We know what the MP and DCE are trying to do. We are watching every movement they take, we know all of their agents and if there is a change of delegates as we know they have been doing then God help us all. The MP- Hon Likpalimor has been the MP for Kpandae since 1992. He is not the only intelligent man in Town. If belives he is popula he should come and face congress. He has had all the opportunity to develop Kpandai and has failed to do so. All he does is to get bribes from contractors using the District Assembly common fund to undertake quick and shoddy jobs and then get his cut. Once he gets his cut he brings this Kpandai every 4 years to buy the executives and delegates. The DCE has also been in post for three years, if he wants to be MP he must face congress. Walai we are not accepting any kululu.

IF A SINGLE DELEGATE IS CHANGED WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE BRANCH AND WARD EXECUTIVES there will be no peace in Kpandae NDC.

If the forms are not given out there will be no peace in Kpandae NDC. Until the regional and national executives ensure that we have free and fair primaries, and all contestants are allowed to stand, there is not going to be unity in Kpandae NDC.
