Tension builds at Bosore over installation of new chief

Ejisu, Jan 23, GNA - Tension is building at Bosore near Kenyase in the Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region over the installation of a new chief. One of the two royal gates, the "Gyinyasi Family" insists that the candidate nominated for the vacant stool, one Kwabena Offi, has no legitimate title to it.

Additionally, the family said it was the turn of their gate to occupy the Gyamfi Stool, which historically alternates between them and the "Pokua Asamu (Ntonso) Royal Family". The last chief of the town, Nana Kwabena Owusu Ababio, was from the Pokua Asamu family.

Nana Akwasi Sefa Boa kye, Head of Family, said they had therefore filed for an order of interlocutory injunction at the Judicial Committee of the Ejisu Traditional Council to stop the illegal installation. In an affidavit in support of the application, a copy of which was given to Ghana News Agency, He asked the Committee to use its power to put on hold the illegality and abuse of customary practice until the determination of their petition.
