Tepa Fire Station gets new 2.6 billion cedis fire tender

The Ahafo-Ano North District Fire Station at Tepa has taken delivery of a new fire tender valued at 2.6 billion cedis.

Mr Willie Halm, Ashanti Regional Fire Officer, who handed over the keys to the vehicle, said this brings to 86 the total number of fire tenders procured by the government within the last two years to enhance the performance of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

He said the government's policy of equipping all stations with fire tenders would greatly motivate personnel of the Service in the discharge of their duties.

Mr Halm appealed to the district assembly to help install telephone facilities at the station for quick response to fire emergencies.

Mr Kwame Oppong, District Co-ordinating Director, noted that with the presentation of the new vehicle, the district was now well positioned to effectively manage fire disasters.

He gave the assurance that the assembly would do everything possible to ensure that the fire tender was kept in good condition at all times.

Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, Omanhene of Tepa Traditional Area, who received the keys, praised the government for keeping faith with the people by making good its promise of providing the station with a fire tender.

He asked the assembly to help remove all unauthorised structures in the area for easier access by personnel of the GNFS to all parts of the town in the event of any fire emergency.
