Teshie dump NDC jersey

Political rivalry between Nii Nortey Dua, former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku (Teshie) and Sena Okity-Duah, current MP for the same constituency is assuming ridiculous dimensions, with the potential of ditching the fortunes of the ruling National Democratic Congress administration, should it fester into the next elections.
The case was evidenced in an annual soccer ritual held during the Homowo festivities to show solidarity among residents of the two sister communities, Teshie and Nungua. Homowo matches originally included gala soccer teams from Accra Central, Osu, La, Teshie, Tema and Nungua.
Senior citizens of substance usually donated cups during such matches and paraded a mix of older and younger players in competitions conducted without rivalry and bitterness.
Unfortunately, in the last Nungua soccer match held, it turned out that jerseys donated by MP Sena Okity-Duah, were dumped by Teshie in favour of another set donated by former MP Nii Nortey Dua, even though organizers of the Teshie soccer team, in refusing to don the Sena jersey, failed to refuse the cash that came with the jerseys.
Responding to the embarrassing incident, an NDC youth, who was part of the organization that brought on Sena and also the soccer fiesta, said it is sad that things should have gone that way in a simple matter of soccer.
He, however, added that the story should serve as a warning to Sena, who the activist added, is refusing calls from people who helped her to win the primaries and the parliamentary slot as well.
During the campaign, Sena was said to have released a special number to close campaign aides to call as hotline. Unfortunately, he lamented, “you call and call and call, and no none of substance responds to it save a campaign manager, who wants all the gains for himself as personal aide to the MP.”
“It was intentional. They took Sena’s cash and took Nortey Dua’s,too. Then, they donned the jersey that has Nortey Dua’s name and sign on it and dumped Sena’s,” the activist confessed, when DAYBREAK queried the action.
But the paper further learnt that tricks such as contrived in that incident was engineered by local constituency goons, who play National and Regional Executives against MPs and benefit financially from such games.
Danny Annang, who is also national vice chairman of the NDC, finances Nortey Dua and is responsible for supplying the jerseys used for the fiesta. During the last election, too, he allegedly advised the electorate in the constituency to vote skirt and blouse – skirt as former MP Norley Ashitey, a Ga and John Mahama as blouse for President. .
DAYBREAK learnt that, in attempting to ditch Sena, architects of the Dump Sena’s T-shirts intend dumping her at the next constituency primaries in favour of a lackey of Annang, who is a known under-performer and current Municipal Chief Executive of Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA).
