Residents of Teshie in Accra are excited about Wednesday’s demolishing exercise that saw the destruction of over thousand houses in the area, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area Seth Badu has said.
He explains, the residents are happy because government has adequately paid compensation to all affected persons.
Over thousand homes in the Ledzorkuku Krowor Municipality were pulled down Wednesday under the supervision of the Police and other security agencies.
The reclaimed land is earmarked for the expansion of the roads in the area.
Houses behind the Teshie police barracks, Yomo Specs, Agblizaa and LEKMA Hospital were all affected in the exercise.
Residents were reportedly informed of the road expansion as far back as 2007.
But speaking to Starr News Wednesday, the MCE said reports that the residents are worried about the exercise are untrue.
“…People are happy and in fact, Teshie people are helping us to do the job.
“You can come to the area and see for yourself, they are happy because they have been compensated already, and they know they have to move out of the area”.
