The Electoral Commission (EC) has activated a short code for registered voters to be able to check their registration details on their mobile phone.

Voters can remote-check their details by sending their Voter ID number to short code 6363.

They will receive a response containing their name, date of birth, registration center and any other information they made available to the EC during the registration process.

This process is to save the electorate time and to give them a convenient and fast way of knowing whether their details captured on the voter roll are right or wrong.

This was disclosed by the EC’s deputy head of communications Yusif Alhassan Ayuba when he spoke to Class News on Thursday July 21.

The EC has promised to execute a world-class election in December.

The electoral management body is currently undertaking a voter register exhibition exercise across the country and has disclosed that over one million registered voters have been verified so far by the Biometric Verification Devices (BVD’s) from all exhibition centres as of Wednesday.

The exercise, which started on Monday July 18, will end on August 7. Meanwhile, the concurrent exercise to re-register persons whose names were deleted from the register for using the National Health Insurance card as proof of citizenship, following the Supreme Court ruling, will end on 27 July.
