Thank You Nana Addo For Your Bravery -NPP-USA Youth Wing

History is replete with statesmen of vision who challenged and motivated the youth to strive to attain greater heights through sacrifice. One such great motivator of our youthful spirits is Nana Akufo Addo. His “All die be die” statement has awakened the party’s spirit and brought back the enthusiasm and zeal needed as the youth of NEW PATROITIC PARTY. Our spirit is back, we feel invigorated and rejuvenated as the youth of NPP.

NPP- USA Youth Wing would like to use this platform to commend Nana Akufo Addo for unleashing our collective WILL to resist any form of harassment and intimidation from the out of control NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS in the upcoming general elections in 2012.The good people of Ghana will not sit down and look on for NDC to inflict violence and all forms of abuses on them to cling unto power. Their aim is to trample on the sovereign will of the good people of Ghana, defeat democracy and steal power through the use of violence and intimidation.

Democracy seeks the voice of the people and not the will of a few groups of miscreants. The “ALL DIE BE DIE” statement from NANA ADDO is a wake up call on all peace loving Ghanaians to oppose and stand up against all forms of violence and abuses that have the potential to mar the credibility of the 2012 general elections. YES, we the youth of NPP will resist in every way possible, the violence, intimidation and harassment and give democracy a chance to prevail in Ghana.

Did the NDC expect NANA ADDO to tell NPP supporters to run away when NDC hooligans with machetes, guns and other deadly weapons for them to perpetrate their inhuman activities approach them? Fellow Ghanaians, what is wrong is wrong and must be resisted and condemned. If NDC plans not to resort to intimidation and violence, then they should not see it as a threat to our democracy. For far too long NDC has taken advantage of the calm nature of Ghanaians and have manipulated elections in this country. NDC is alarmed and terrified because they know that a long- standing tradition is about to be broken. They are aware that the good people of Ghana have shown remorse for voting the “out of control” NDC to power and are ready to boot them out in 2012. If they still want to bully their way through with intimidation and violence then it is too late.

It is surprising to hear Dr. Kobina Agyei the national chairman of the NDC and his cohorts trying hard to twist the real meaning of what NANA ADDO said, with the intention of persuading Ghanaians to condemn resistance to violence from NPP and endorse violence from NDC. How on earth do they expect Ghanaians to praise the attacker and condemn the defender? This is mischievous and unbelievable. What does the NDC take the good people of Ghana for?

Ghana built its true democratic credentials under NPP through the able leadership of JOHN AGYAKUM KUFFOUR. During this period, general and by-elections were conducted devoid of violence and intimidation. Ghanaians exercised their franchise without fear. Do we have to sit down and allow some group of people who call themselves social democrats who have no respect for democracy to jeopardize the future of our dear nation? We are already saturated with assaults and brutalities and cannot take anymore.

NPP-USA Youth Wing is not surprised to see the reincarnation of violence and intimidation in our body politics; Snatching of ballot boxes, gunshots and assaults with cutlasses characterized the 1992 and 1996 elections under the NDC’s watch. It was however, our hope that these demonic activities will be buried, under the tutelage of the so-called Asomdweehene, Prof. Atta Mills. Unashamedly, the President has not earned his self-proclaimed title because he has refused to act even in the face of widespread violence during his infant term in office; sometimes such dastardly acts are perpetrated against his own appointees by his so-called “foot-soldiers.” We believe the president should let his title reflect his actions. Ghanaians have had enough and are fed-up with his “look the other way attitudes.”

All must condemn developments from the recent by-elections at Atiwa and Chereponi held under the watch of the NDC government. NDC supporters attacked NPP supporters. This was so bizarre that we are tempted to say that no rational being should act like that. Many sustained serious injuries with broken bones and cutlass wounds all over their bodies. How long can we take this? We will resist, after all “ALL DIE BE DIE”. At least the NDC has given us a gist of what they intend to do in the upcoming elections. What is even more alarming is that all these brutalities happened right in the face of the Police.

NPP-USA Youth Wing would like to give this advice to our brothers in the NDC fold. We are urging you to REPENT and DESIST from your violent behavior and let the voice of the people be heard. If you decide not to, then we will be ready to meet you at all levels BOOT FOR BOOT, TOOTH FOR TOOTH AND EYE FOR EYE. We will NOT initiate any violence but if you do we will resist. Ghana is nineteen years old in its democratic journey and must show some level of maturity regarding the conduct of elections. We should not underestimate the potential for unrest in this country if violence and other forms of human rights abuses continue to characterize our elections.

Ghanaians must not be denied the right to select their own leader. It is therefore paramount for NANA ADDO to have raised an issue of this magnitude for discussion before it caused us more damage. Ghana is for Ghanaians, so we will do everything in our strength to defend it from predators and scavengers from feeding on our conscience. “TO EVERY ACTION THERE IS EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION”. LONG LIVE GHANA! LONG LIVE NPP!! LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY!!! NPP- USA YOUTH WING COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR EDWARD K. RICHARDSON
