Ho, Feb. 16, GNA - Right Rev Francis Amenu, the Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, has said the Church must protect its position as the conscience and spiritual barometer of the nation. He told the GNA in an interview that this must find expression in its moral and ethical principles and practices and teachings. Rt Rev Amenu said the Church must serve as a beacon of hope to all categories of people by bringing light to their situations of darkness. He said the Church today faces perhaps the most difficult challenge borne out of the get-rich-quick syndrome and the invasion of the faith Ministry by people with different motives and prescriptions to people's genuine problems.
Rt Rev Amenu said this had manifested in poor parenting, unbalanced marital relationships, divorce and domestic violence. "The breakdown of our cherished extended family system is also a factor, gone were the days when the behaviour of every child on the street is premised on the acceptable norms of the larger society", he said. Right Reverend Amenu said the situation demanded that the Church maintained unwavering commitment to preaching and practice of the tenets of the Christian faith.
