The Divine Healer's Church launches 50th Anniversary cloth

Accra, May 30, GNA:-- The Deputy Minister for Lands and Forestry Ms. Theresa Armeley Tagoe on Sunday said that the road and drainage systems at Korle Gonno, in Accra would soon be rehabilitated. This, she said, would be funded by a nine-million US dollar secured from the World Bank by the Ministry of Roads through the Urban Roads to rehabilitate roads and drainages in the Electoral Area.

Ms Tagoe disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at the launch of the Anniversary Cloth of The Divine Healer's Church at Korle Gonno as part of activities marking the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Church.

Among the activities lined up for the anniversary before its climax on August 22 at the Independence Square are: Walk with Christ in aid for the Korle Bu Cardio Thoracic Centre, Inter Sectoral Choral Music Festival, Hospital visitation and blood donation, Clean-up exercises, Gilbert Ablorh Lawson Memorial Lectu4es and a Thanks-giving Service. The Church, which was founded by the late Gilbert Ablorh Lawson in 1953 as a healing Temple has gone through many changes up to its present status under the name: "The Divine Healer's Church" (TDHC) The Deputy Minister said, sod would be cut on Friday, June 4 at the Methodist School Park, Korle Gonno to enable the contractor for the project, Messrs Ray Protik to commence work.

She therefore, appealed to the people to cooperate to enhance the success of the project.

Ms Tagoe, who is the MP for Ablekuma South, also called on Churches to build the faith of the Lord in their members to enable them to desist from consulting other medium for assistance.

She appealed to the communities to assist in the crusade against drug abuse teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS.

She called on Christians to continue to pray for the government so that they can steer the affairs of the nation successfully. The chairman for the occasion, Elder Ben Lawson, a management consultant urged Christians to approach all their activities with dedication to ensure success.

The General Overseer of the Church Rev. Amaziah Aflah Armah, assisted by Ms. Tagoe and the Chairman unveiled the anniversary cloth amidst jubilation and fanfare.
