The Ewe Community Losses A Giant

The Ewe Community in North America and the Nyamadi family (home and abroad) announced with deep regret the death of Papa Nyamadi who passed away on April 4, 2004 at Keta Hospital.

The late. Fui W.B. Nyamadi was born on July 8, 1911. He began his education in 1917 and completed his ?standard 7? at the Keta E.P. church school in 1930. He quickly went into apprenticeship after which he became a master Designer and spent 5 years designing dresses for mercantile dignitaries as well as government officials. His Excellency, John Miller was among some of his clienteles. At one time he became a contractor building roads and houses to solve housing problems for workers.

In 1969 he gave up his contractorship and opened his own store, selling fishing lines and general goods. Papa Nyamadi, who became jack of all trade, retired from active work and received award of honors from the GNTC in 1975. He died on April 4 2004, after a short illness at Keta hospital.

His body would be laid to rest on May 29, 2004 at Anloga, Ghana. He left behind 27 children, many grandchildren and great grand children.
