The Ghanaian Community in Chicago has lost an Elder

On behalf of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago,GNC, and on my own behalf, I regret to announce the death of Mr. Anthony Kwateng who served as a partner and Vice President of Oakley Construction in Chicago.

The sad event occurred at the Little Company of Mary Hospital. He was taken ill on Monday June 22, 2015 and passed away on July 1, 2015.

Please join the Ghana National Council and members of the Ghanaian community in remembering the family during this difficult time of grief.

Oakley Construction and Mr. Kwateng himself have offered tremendous help, financially and in an advisory capacity to the Ghana National Council and the Ghanaian community over the years. His company and other sponsors made holding Ghanafest, the Ghanaian community's annual cultural showcase, possible.

Mr. Kwateng's daughter, Mrs. Akua Kwateng-Bonsu is currently serving as the Publicity Secretary of the Ghana National Council and his daughter, Akosua Kwateng served as the Youth Secretary of the Ghana National Council at one time.

Meanwhile the President of the Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago, Mr. Steve Dei, in a message to his members this morning stated " I regret to announce the passing away of Mr. Kwateng, a partner of Oakley Construction, a very kind and generous man and a great friend of the Ghanaian community. He was very helpful during the death and funeral of the late Togbe Venya I. He died here in Chicago after a short illness. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. We will keep you posted with further arrangements when it becomes available."
